Gribble’s purchase whole bullocks from the Johns family each & every week. Hillhead & Wilburton Farms are long-standing family farms owned & ran by reputed farming family David & Jane Johns and their son Dion. Their herd of predominantly South Devon and Limousin cattle are reared to organic standards and are fed on customised home-made organic feed from their own organic barley, peas & sileage.
The farm is managed in an environmentally friendly way, our single suckled calves, beef cattle and sheep graze the herb-rich grass in summer, and in winter they are fed a natural diet of home grown cereals, hay and silage to produce the superb flavour our customers have come to expect.
The Johns family have recently featured heavily on the popular local ITV series ‘The Way We Were’ .
Alongside the farming of cattle & sheep the John’s family are large producers of Organic Vegetables for Riverford Organic Veg box sheme. Jane also runs a successful B&B and Caravan Club Site on farm and they welcome customer interest in their environmentally friendly farm.
