Food for Life at Collaton St Mary C of E Primary School
Gribble’s Butchers are proud to supply Collaton St Mary C of E Primary School every week with high-quality local Devon beef and handmade sausages.
Collaton St Mary has placed great importance on the quality of their school meals and enhancing the children’s lunchtime experience, so the school kitchen has become an integral part of school life.
The school has joined the ‘Food for Life partnership’ and has put a number of practices in place to ensure a positive, inclusive, healthy and enjoyable lunchtime experience for the children, including using their own, home-grown vegetables alongside local meat and fish.
Kitchen Manager Sam Ward is proud to source local produce and have direct contact with local suppliers like Gribble’s, and when Torbay Councillor Chris Lewis visited the school this week, Mark Gribble was on hand to supply the beef and help make sure everyone had a good, healthy lunch.
“I’ve got four children of primary school age myself,” says Mark, “so I fully understand how important it is for them to get a well-balanced, high-quality lunch. It’s why we’re always delighted to supply schools like Collaton St Mary with great local Devon meat from farms that are almost literally on their doorstep. I know the animals have been reared carefully and farmed sustainably, and I know they’ve been butchered properly, so I’m happy that their meat is of the very highest quality, which is what children need.”
