A Royal Castle Tradition

We are proud to have been supplying the Royal Castle Hotel in Dartmouth since we started trading around 20 years ago, and enjoy working closely with Nigel, Ankur and the team.

This week two of our butchers, Stewart Piggott and Matt Paul, spent the morning with Head Chef Ankur, demonstrating their butchery skills on a prizewinning bullock which the Royal Castle had purchased from the Dartmouth Christmas Fat Stock Market in December. It has become a bit of an annual tradition for our teams to get together, sharing ideas on the different cuts of beef and how best to prepare and cook them. It’s really great for our butchers to meet with chefs to understand the latest trends and cooking techniques, ensuring that we prepare our meat exactly as our customers like it.

This year’s bullock was a British Limousin Steer and weighed in at 423KG. It was purchased from Farmer Burrow & Farmer Fielding of Ashburton. If you want to try this fabulous beef for yourself, it is on the menu at the Royal Castle Hotel from this weekend.
